Al Khalij Cement Company (AKCC) is a subsidiary of Qatari Investors Group (QIG) Industries; a leading provider of high quality business, industrial, investment services and products in Qatar. Founded in 2006, AKCC is a market leader and a fully-fledged cement manufacturer in Qatar. AKCC strives to sustain being the Country’s premier manufacturer whilst maintaining quality products and services for our customers and simultaneously embracing Qatar’s vision 2030.

AKCC currently has a clinker production capacity of 4 Million Tons per Annum (MTPA) and cement production capacity of 5.5 MTPA located at Umm Bab, 80km West of Doha. AKCC is the only cement manufacturer in Qatar with a fully automated robotic quality control system for sampling and quality assurance.

AKCC is ISO 9001, ISO14001 and ISO 45001 certified and has been accredited with IMS (Integrated Management System). AKCC’s OPC (Ordinary Portland Cement) and SRC (Sulphur Resistant Cement) is certified by Qatar General Organization for Standardization (QCS 2014) and it is the only cement manufacturer in Qatar who is certified by API for the manufacturing and supply of Class G HSR (Oil Well Cement).

With the Limestone reserves for more than 50 years and a State of the art Cement manufacturing plant; AKCC is truly aligned to cater for Qatar’s construction market and Oil & Gas cementing needs for decades to come.

Our Timeline

#Recieved prestigious certification from American Petroleum Institute (API) to produce and supply Class G Cement (Oil Well Cement) catering the nees of Oil & Gas Cementing needs.
#Certified with Integrated Management System (IMS): ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001.
#Introduced SRPC (Sulphate Resistant Portland Cement) to support special project requirements.
#Additional Autopac line for Packing added
#AKCC doubled its clinker production capacity to 12,000 tons per day and increasing the cement production capacity to 15,500 tons per day.

Our Team

Jose A. Escalera
AKCC Director

Mr. Escalera holds a Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, from Complutense University, Madrid (Spain). He joined AKCC in September 2012 and currently accumulates over 23 years of international experience in Cement Industry from different countries. Prior to joining AKCC, he worked as Cement Plant Director at Spain and as Cement/Slag Operations Director at UAE for a Multinational building materials company leading multidisciplinary work teams in Production, Maintenance, Quality and HSE.

Mr. Escalera has brought to AKCC his high level of expertise, leadership, and a thorough understanding of multicultural aspects, with an extraordinary level of governance.

Mohamed Metwally
Production Manager

Mr. Metwally is a pronounced Cement expert with over 19 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, product development and Cement Production Processes. He has worked in various technical and quality management profiles with Multinational Cement Manufacturing Groups. He successfully built and capitalized on his BSc degree in Chemistry and Geology, which he achieved in the year 2000- to develop and grow his knowledge, skills and experience in the QA/QC and Production areas of the Cement Industry.

Mr. Metwally is now successfully spearheading all Operations at AKCC in the most proactive, technically sound and effective manner.

Khuzam Adnan Ahmad Obaidat
Sales Manager

Ms. Khuzam holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Jordanian University of Science and Technology. Ms. Khuzam has extensive experience of 17 years in the Qatar Market especially with cement, ready mixed concrete and contracting industry ranging from operations, marketing, business development, quality control and project management. She joined AKCC in 2018 as Sales Manager responsible for OPC, SRC and Oil Well Cement Sales.

Ms. Khuzam is versatile, perseverant and she is leading the sales activities within AKCC with team spirit, while being very dynamic with positive mindset.

Dejan Peshevski
QHSSE Manager

Mr. Dejan had received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from University of Technology and Metallurgy St. Kiril and Metodij in Macedonia. He brings with him over 20 years’ experience, mainly in cement industry. Mr. Dejan, joined AKCC in 2019 and currently holds the position of QHSSE Manager. Prior to AKCC, he worked in Production and Quality Department in different international cement companies.

Mr. Dejan possess great technical and analytical skills.

Jalal Abdul Nour
Procurement Manager

Mr. Abdul Nour holds a Degree in Electrical Engineer from University of Quebec, Canada awarded in 1997. He joined AKCC in April 2017 having 12 years of rich previous experience in Procurement with a leading cement company in Saudi Arabia spearheading procurement planning activities and another 9 years in various engineering positions gained from reputable organization within the cement industry.

Mr. Abdul Nour’s expertise also includes Quality engineering, Technical Support and Production Engineering gained over his long career of over 22 years as he currently shoulders the responsibility of all procurement activities at AKCC.

Khaled Al Mufleh
Maintenance Manager

Mr. Khaled holds Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Jordan awarded to him in 2006. He has joined AKCC in April 2017 and currently holds the position of Maintenance Manager.

Mr. Khaled has more than 11 years of experience in cement plants with international companies across the globe, and has a strong technical background and knowledge of cement plants; equipment design and maintenance.

Our Facilities

Al Khalij Cement Company (AKCC) has a regionally unique Cement Plant which adopts environment friendly Best Available Technology (BAT). AKCC dedicates itself to staying on the cutting edge of global practices in order to protect the environment for current and future generations.

The Cement Plant is situated in Umm-Bab which is approximately 80 km west of Doha, while the Limestone mining area is situated 4km south of the Plant. The Cement Plant’s Clinkerization Units are based on Modern Rotary Kiln technology with a guaranteed capacity of 12,000 metric tons per day with a grinding capacity of 15,500 metric tons per day of cement.

For continuous customer support and satisfaction; the Plant is equipped with efficient dispatch facilities with the flexibility to provide cement by bulk (42,500 MT storage capacity), 50 kg bags (Ventomatic Rotary packer 2x200tph) and big-bags (2 loading lines).
